A man wanted in connection with the shootings that wounded the mother of his unborn child and killed the woman's sister has been arrested.

Burnie Reed, 19, was taken into custody at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Fort Lauderdale fugitive detectives, the FBI Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Secret Service and Lauderhill police worked together to find Reed at 3451 NW Fourth Court in Lauderhill.

Police said officers found Reed hiding under a "massive" pile of clothing and furniture in the home.

"Basically, we're talking a massive amount of clothing. I mean three people could hide under the amount of clothing and laundry that were stacked in this room, and then you had furniture, several pieces of furniture that were there," said Detective Chuck Morrow, of the Fort Lauderdale Police Fugitive Squad. "Upon clearing that room, we observed some movement in the clothing, at which time we ordered him to come out. We gave him some commands to come out. He refused to comply with us, making physical contact. That's ultimately when he became very combative, began punching and kicking and resisting arrest."

Despite Reed's struggles, officers were able to take him into custody, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued last week for Reed in connection with the shootings of sisters Chutney and Bianca McNair.

Police said Reed and Chutney McNair, 19, who is carrying his unborn child, were arguing in the 1100 block of Northwest 11th Street on Jan. 21 when her sister, Bianca McNair, 21, tried to intervene.

Fort Lauderdale police said Reed shot Bianca McNair in the head, and when Chutney McNair tried to run away, he chased her down and shot her in the head, too.

Bianca McNair later died.

Reed faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, resisting law enforcement officers with violence and resisting law enforcement officers without violence. He is being held at the Broward County Main Jail.
